Is Paint Protection Film Worth It?

Paint protection film is a relatively new product that is quickly becoming popular amongst car enthusiasts in Perth.

Previously the best product to protect against stone chips was called Stoneguard. This was a thick, clear laminate which was tricky to install but did the job.

Recently new films have been developed that are thinner, last longer, have superior optical clarity and even self-healing properties against light scratches and scuffs.

When installed correctly, the PPF is barely visible to untrained eye. We generally take templates from the vehicle and die-cut the film to ensure a seamless fit. This also avoids cutting directly on the cars surface.

It's not neccesary to cover the entire vehicle with the film. We only cover the areas that receive the most damage such as the entire front of the vehicle, bumpers, sills and fender panels.

The film is expected to last up to 5 years on vertical surfaces, which means it's a worthwhile investment. The cost of having the film installed is much more practical than a brand new paint job.

Some of the brands on the market include Suntek, 3M and Avery Dennison but PPF is also referred to as:

Clear Bra.

Clear Mask.

Invisible Shield.

Rock Chip Protection.

Clear Wrap.

Car Scratch Protection Film.

Installation can take between half a day for smaller sections of the vehicle, up to 2-3 days depending on the level of coverage. The film must be handled correctly during installation, to ensure adhesion. Our installers have completed several PPF installation courses, which means they are adept at completing installation accurately.
